چکیده
In her keynote lecture from the Finnish Geography Days in 2022 Ilse van Liempt offers a hopeful and useful approach to understanding refugees’ processes of belonging home-making. She focuses on arrival infrastructures, which encompass both formal informal structures that greet migrants as they arrive. Important part these is emplacement, where focus can turn into how themselves become creating infrastructures making home new environments, including public spaces inhabit. My commentary draws my experiences United Kingdom (UK) hostile bordering practices, I am reminded hostility, policing migration practices are not only present, but often framing infrastructures. Secondly, reflect meaning here: patriarchal heteronormative follow migrant their route, well practice for arrivals. Hence some, itself becomes prison, site violence or place non-belonging. Finally, emergence techno-borderscape (Godin & Doná 2020) has moved large parts support represent, possibilities home-making online, with many simultaneously having reduced access digital spaces.

On 15 July 1971, Deborah Leach was found dead on the beach. Dr. Manock, the State forensic pathologist, used stomach content analysis to determine the time of Leach’s death. Manock concluded that death was between 4:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Only Mr. Van Beelen had been witnessed on the beach during this time. Van Beelen was convicted of Leach’s murder in 1973.1 His conviction was upheld on appeal....
متن کاملHostile intent in public crowded spaces: a field study.
Hostile reconnaissance is vital to successful terrorist activity. Individuals carrying out this activity are likely to experience raised levels of stress and this will manifest itself at biological, physiological, psychological and behavioural levels, providing an opportunity for detection. A field trial was undertaken in an ecologically valid environment measuring variables considered likely t...
متن کاملCommentary: UK general practice moves to open notes to patients.
Patients enrolled with the Haughton Thornley Medical Centres in East Manchester have been able to get full online access to their general practice records since 2005. We have used access to records as a foundation for developing a “partnership of trust” with our patients. When the patient can see the same information as the clinician, it can foster a more equal relationship and lead to improved...
متن کاملTopology Notes: Ordered Spaces
Consider the following properties of a binary relation ≤ on a set X: (Reflexivity) For all x ∈ X, x ≤ x. (Anti-Symmetry) For all x, y ∈ X, if x ≤ y and y ≤ x, then x = y. (Transitivity) For all x, y, z ∈ X, if x ≤ y and y ≤ z, then x ≤ z. (Totality) For all x, y ∈ X, either x ≤ y or y ≤ x. A relation which satisfies reflexivity and transitivity is called a quasi-ordering. A relation which satis...
متن کاملNotes on Metric Spaces
These notes introduce the concept of a metric space, which will be an essential notion throughout this course and in others that follow. Some of this material is contained in optional sections of the book, but I will assume none of that and start from scratch. Still, you should check the corresponding sections in the book for a possibly different point of view on a few things. The main idea to ...
